Stretched thin???

“I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.”

― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

Ever feel like this?  I do more often than I like over the last few years.  That is how Satan likes to keep us.  If we aren't careful, he can gain the upper hand here... but IF we focus on the Lord, it is actually when we can be the most useful to the Lord.  God is able to pour his strength into and through us when we are emptied of ourselves.  The next time you (or I) feel this way... say a prayer to God and cling to His promises.

John 16:33

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Isaiah 26:3

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

So when you feel your peace is leaving.... Anchor yourself on God.  Remember who HE is... Remember HIS power...Remember what HE has done in the past and know what HE will do.

Psalm 55:22

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

1 Peter 5:6-7

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

Philippians 4:6-7

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Isaiah 41:10

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

And if the future is what has you worried... just leave it with Him.  Today is all you need to deal with.  Let God handle the things that belong to Him.

Matthew 6:34

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
